Darian Ellis – Team Lead on Broadcasting/Journalism Team
Background:
Darian was born and raised in Baton Rouge,Louisiana. As a young girl, she always enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. She loves meeting new people and traveling. She began her career in entertainment by modeling in runway shows for New Orleans Fashion Week. After much hard work, she was chosen to participate on America’s Next Top Model. Immediately following her debut, she traveled the country to model for different productions. She is inspired to teach new and upcoming models how to navigate the industry with her model workshops. With an interest in fashion and entertainment, she is currently studying at the University of Houston, while actively pursuing her career in television production and correspondence. As a journalist with the Minority Report, she is dedicated to highlighting prominent minority businesses in our communities.
Importance of H100:
It is very important that we amplify and encourage those in and outside of the community to support minority-owned businesses. African Americans and other minorities contribute to the economy significantly, and we should yield that financial and social power in spaces that actively engage in the progression of our community.
Why?:
I love Houston and the diversity of this city. I enjoy meeting new people and learning their stories. By joining this project, I will have the opportunity to engage with progressive minded entrepreneurs who share my love for supporting our community.
