Name/Position with H100: Andrea Daniels. Journalist on Broadcasting/Journalism Team
Background: Andrea also known as Drea is a native Houstonian looking to make her mark on the world. Andrea graduated as valedictorian from Wiley College in 2015 with her Bachelors in Accounting. She then graduated from Texas Southern University in 2018 with her MBA in Accounting, as well. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Andrea is driven by her parents and sister. She is very well versed in many different things. As a young girl she was a multi-talented athlete who received many accolades for her academic excellence and skills on the volleyball court, especially throughout high school and college. She loves her family and friends more than anything in the world! Andrea enjoys traveling, working out, modeling and helping others. She is passionate about making a difference in the world! Andrea is a financial analyst for the City of Houston and has a strong attention to detail. She was a former budget analyst for Harris County and believes that her positions and acumen on politics will enable her to grow as a person; and truly enable her to make a change in this society. Her goal is to become a successful business owner that will bridge the gap in many industries for minorities, specifically politics and creative industries that seem to be polar opposites.
As a journalist with the Minority Report, she is dedicated to highlighting prominent minority owned businesses as well as learning to bridge those gaps through hands-on interactions.
Importance of H100: As one who has seen first had the role that politics plays in our society, the minorities in our communities need continued support! African Americans and other minorities contribute a significant amount of resources to uplift a system they are often neglected by. The H100 is a great platform that will shine a light on some major minority owned businesses that are making a difference in their communities. This dedication is intended to serve as inspiration to others; while empowering and uplifting those highlighted entities.
Why?:.Minorities are often ‘supposed’ to remain just to an unjust system, that not fair, but it is the society we live in. Realistically minorities can and will change the rhetoric, because success is built into our genetic code, it takes time, we have to love and invest in ourselves and others. Being a model, athlete, and political figure has helped me learn to do just that, but now being a part of H100 will force me to apply what I have learned and propel me even further to enact change! I am here not only to gain insight for myself, but to help and empower others. I believe when one shines, we all shine! I love Houston, it is my home and I want Houston to shine, but more than anything I want Minorities to shine!
One word that describes me: Auspicious! I am adaptable, resourceful, intelligent, and unique. Everything that I fully commit to will be excellent, because I strive for nothing less, meaning that my goal is to turn everything in something positive, something successful, something auspicious. (Yes, this was one of my line names, Auspicious Diamond, and I embody every aspect of it!)
