Compensation: Unpaid with chance to receive $1000 at the end of internship 

About Us: The Minority Report is a publication, website, and gala dedicated to highlighting businesses that empower and grow minority firms. Our parent company, Do-WAP Agency, was founded in New Orleans in 2005 to advocate for the community and address injustices post-Katrina. We specialize in online, offline, and event marketing, and are committed to uplifting minority voices and enterprises.

Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and driven Marketing, Directory and Communications Intern to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of marketing, communications, and event planning. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about supporting minority businesses and eager to contribute to our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Content Creation:
    • Assist in developing content for the Minority Report publication, website, and social media platforms.
    • Creating 10 listings per week (2-3 per day)
    • Write and edit articles, blog posts, and newsletters.
    • Create engaging multimedia content (videos, graphics, infographics).
  2. Social Media Management:
    • Support the management of our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
    • Schedule and post content regularly.
    • Monitor engagement and respond to comments/messages.
  3. Marketing Campaigns:
    • Assist in planning and executing online and offline marketing campaigns.
    • Help track and analyze campaign performance.
    • Provide insights and suggestions for improvement.
  4. Event Coordination:
    • Support the planning and execution of events, including our annual gala.
    • Coordinate logistics, communications, and promotion for events.
    • Assist with event setup, management, and follow-up.
  5. Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct research on industry trends, minority business needs, and competitor activities.
    • Compile and analyze data to support marketing strategies.
  6. Administrative Support:
    • Perform administrative tasks as needed to support the marketing and communications team.
    • Assist with email communications and database management.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with social media platforms.
  • Experience with graphic design and video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passionate about supporting minority businesses and communities.
  • MUST HAVE YOUR OWN COMPUTER/LAPTOP
